and I help
nonprofit leaders untangle what’s stuck so they can raise more, do more, help more.
I’m Aliya —
I’ve spent over two decades in mission advancement and institutional leadership roles, guiding organizations through complex, high-stakes challenges — so I know firsthand how frustrating it is when you lack the financial and human resources to best serve your mission.
What I’ve learned? Process and product are equally important, and most nonprofits are led by smart, driven people who’d benefit from a fresh perspective: a trusted partner to ask the right questions, develop approaches that work, and create a clear path forward.
Clients seek me out when they need to make a change: to better articulate their vision, to raise more money, to coach their teams. I approach every engagement with curiosity, empathy, energy, and joy — because what good is mission-driven work if you’re not having fun while you’re at it?

My Story
Today, I collaborate with nonprofits facing daunting revenue challenges, who need support in fundraising, strategic planning, marketing, staffing, or scaling new programs.
My clients are smart, mission-driven, and doing life-changing work, but they need my skills and experience to uncover what’s possible. When you work with Broad Lake, you’ll be able to identify the right people and systems to maximize revenue — freeing you up to deliver on your mission to those who need it most.
Philanthropy matters deeply to me and my story; the generosity of others, when used well, changes lives like mine. And the people delivering on those promises — brilliant, kind, big-hearted leaders — deserve a partner who’s just as invested in their success as they are.
My life has been transformed many times over thanks to the generosity of others, so a career in philanthropy felt natural.
Fast forward: after 2+ decades in nonprofit advancement and 15 years in organizational leadership roles, I’m at my best convening teams to tackle complex, cross-functional issues that inevitably trace back to needing additional revenue.
I wanted more of that — freedom to work on meaningful projects with clients whose values I share and who have big, meaty problems to solve — so I founded Broad Lake Partners.
What’s in a Name?
Anyone who’s named a kid, a pet, or a business knows it needs to be just right.
Broad: the worldview, the perspective, and the scope with which this practices serves its clients. It’s also a slang term for woman, and Broad Lake Partners happens to be woman-owned.
Lake: bodies of water have had an outsize presence in my life, and I drive by Lake Michigan in her glory nearly every day. The lake {or your situation} looks different depending on the weather, the time of year, or the sunshine — and it holds a myriad of answers once you venture beneath the surface.
Partners: the best ones are collaborative and connected. As your teammate, let’s put our complimentary talents and skills to work.
As your partner, I’ll bring the energy and guidance to problem solve and strategize creatively; to create an easy flow of ideas back and forth; to take care of your pain points so you can gain momentum.
Does your nonprofit have a big, daunting revenue challenge? Or a series of smaller issues preventing you from doing your best work? Whether that’s fundraising, staffing, marketing, or program implementation, let's see if I can help.
